O N Y E D E G A !

Located along the eastern banks of the Niger River in Kogi State, Nigeria, Onyedega is the headquarters of Ibaji Local Government Area.
Literally translated, the name Onyedega means ‘There is a crocodile in/at the river!’
According to Ukwedeh, illustrious historian and one of our own, Onyedega’s history can be traced to the third phase of Ibaji settlers of 1860 – 1900 AD. This was a “period of the rise of fishing camps along the Niger which later developed into small villages of permanent settlers”.
According to the historian, Onyedega was one of the villages that formed the core of those later settlements along the Niger River, as migrants began settle down to farm.
When on 4th December, 1996, Ibaji Local Government Area was created along with others in the country, with Mr. Fidel Egwuche of the Graphic Newspaper appointed as Sole Administrator, Onyedega came into prominence as it was made the headquarters of the new LGA.

ONYEDEGA will host the next edition of the Ibaji Liberation Crusades Series.

It’s here already! The voice of the Lord shall be heard again, and His power shall be seen among the people.
